A medium growing vase shaped tree reaching 70-90’ at maturity. Drought and salt tolerant doing well in most soils. Very uncommon but a good alternative to the American Elm for its litter free and pest free disposition and adaptability to urban environments. Copper-orange to yellow in the autumn.
Almost always grows multiple trunks and v-shaped branch unions. Should be structure pruned from the start and kept up with the first 20 years.
Canker susceptibility, especially when wounded on the trunk.
