Soil Treatments
This is a service that addresses the problematic soil type of our area. The vast majority of problems we come across with trees originate from the soil in which they are planted. Trees generally prefer an acidic loamy soil. Soils of this area are typically comprised of a highly alkaline compacted clay.
With a special mixture for the spring to promote healthy growth during the warm season and a different special formula designed to foster healthy soils in the fall we see excellent results in thousands of trees every year.
A healthy tree will defend itself against most insect pressures and wanting pathogens. It is the stressed tree that is often left defenseless in the face of these problems and then the common recourse is pesticide use in order to stave off the attackers and assess the trees needs.
We recommend this treatment twice annually on an on going basis to help ensure healthy and strong trees.
Beginning early March and providing the service early June, depending on weather and circumstances for each property. This treatment addresses the needs of plants as they start the growing season and designed to help them thrive though it.
It is often necessary to adjust the formula to meet the needs of a particular tree. We can usually do this on site. A common example is treating chlorotic (yellow)trees with Iron in order to help them turn green again.
Sometimes it necessary to pull soil samples and them analyzed by a qualified lab. We can then use the lab recommendations to help us determine the best formula for a particular tree or group of trees.
Beginning around October 1st and continuing through November. This is a formula geared towards the health of the soil and adding basic elements for the trees to use. It's important to remember that soil is very much alive and there are literally billions of fungi, bacteria and microbes down there that need energy sources and water in order to function and thrive. This is a critical treatment for Colorado plants.
Again, the treatment can be tailored to address specific issues.
This treatment is applied anytime during the growing season when we find a plant under distress. It is basically our Autumn formula at quadruple the rate. It does an amazing job! Often used where damage to the roots or crown has occurred.
Soil treatments are not a substitute for a proper watering program. They help the trees and soils get essential components in order to thrive in their environment. Please make sure that your trees and plants are getting sufficient and proper watering that they will be there in the years to come for all to enjoy.
